History[edit]
2013[edit]
TEDxTerhan 2013 was the first TEDx event in Iran which took place on February 14, 2013 at the Amirkabir University of Technology with the theme "Tehran En Route" [3].
The event's licensee at the time, Sara Mohammadi, got into thinking of organizing the event when she responded to a tweet from the organizers of TEDxKish requesting volunteer help. But when the event was cancelled, contacted TEDx organizer Giorgio Ungania, who she had met at TEDxAbuDhabi, and asked if she could be part of that team. Under his mentorship, Mohammadi learned pulling off a great TEDx event [4]. Before she retires of being the licensee, Mohammadi was the licensee of the first two event of TEDxTehran: TEDxTehran 2013 and TEDxYouth@Tehran 2013 [5][6].
On the same year, on November 16, along with Universal Children's Day, TEDxYouth@Tehran 2013 also have been organized at the Tehran's Institute of Culture, Arts and Architecturewith the theme of "I Can". As a side activity, the event included two Before I Die walls for it's audience to share their minds [7]
2014[edit]
On February 2014, Mohammadi retired as TEDxTehran licensee[8] and Reza Ghiabi took her place by being approved as the primary licensee. Ghiabi’s TED journey started when he first stumbled across the talk, “The Paradox of Choice” by Barry Schwartz. From that point on, he began volunteering to help translate TED Talks from English to Persian, and then heard about TEDxTehran on social media, in the same way Mohammadi had been first drawn into the TEDx world too. Ghiabi wrote an email to Mohammadi asking to contribute, and she brought him onto the team. He became a volunteer, and then a co-host for the very first TEDxTehran[4][9].
TEDxTehran has been always supported by enthusiast who volunteer to help the event happen [10]. Leveraging it's efficient team, the event set a model for other TEDx'es to grow up in the country [4]. TEDxTehran 2014 was held on September 26, 2014 at the Vahdat Hall of Terhan with the theme of "On the Verge of Breakthrough" [11][12].

Continuing the TEDx experience, TEDxTehran 2015 was held on December 4, 2015 at the Raazi International Conference Hall with the theme of "New Paradigm" with 1000+ audience and free livestream[13][14].
At this event, TEDxTehran launched it's own award, called the "Citizen X Award".
