Taste Quotient (TQ), is the ability of individuals to perceive and understand the beauty of natural things and artificial works. Like emotional quotient, TQ is based on the theory of multiple intelligences by Howard Gardner and the new achievement of neuroaesthetics. Hence, it is becoming a new part of human intelligence. The term was first created and mentioned by Si Shen, a guest speaker of Central Saint Martins College and an arts columnist.

Application[edit]

TQ is used to analysis the aesthetic and judgmental behavior of people, such as dressing style, resume design, music preference and arts appreciation. People with high TQ score have good eyes on beautiful things and are capable of making appropriate decisions about product design and artistic works in order to communicate well. In the age of social network, when people confronting massive amount of uncorroborated information, which defined by Shen as "Like Button Crisis", [1]the ones having better taste are much more competent in both career development and life planning.

Society[edit]

TQ Academy is a society consists of dozens of artists, designers, scholars and TQ enthusiasts, who contribute to the new research of the measurement of aesthetic taste and share opinions to publics.

The members of TQ Academy come from different countries, and the membership is invite-only by now. As the inventor of the concept of TQ, Shen dedicates to develop the outcome of TQ academy and to recruit more genius all around the world.[2]
