Professional Life[edit]
Tattoo Style[edit]
He is best known for his 'full colour nerdism' tattoo style; creating custom pieces in the style of existing animated pop-culture icons. In particular he is renowned for his 'mashup' designs.[1][2]
Commendations[edit]
He won his first award whilst still serving his apprenticeship at Black Sheep Tattoos in Bournemouth in 2013.[3] He has subsequently won competitions at the Cardiff International Tattoo Convention, Jurassic Coast Tattoo Convention, Walker Stalker Orlando and Find My Ink UK.[4] He has also appeared in industry magazines, such as Skin Deep, Skin & Ink and Skin Shots.[5][6][7][8]
In 2015 he was voted by Tattoodo as one of their top 5 pop culture tattoo artists[2] and in 2016 he was a guest judge at Lucas Film's Star Wars Celebration Europe's tattoo competition,[6]
Location[edit]
In 2015 he opened his pop-culture themed studio; The Rising Tide, where he is in residence when not traveling. The studio is located near Bournemouth, on Britain's south coast.[9]
He has tattooed in the UK, Germany,[10] France, and Spain where he is a regular guest artist at Logia Tattoo.[11] He is also a member of the Geekster Ink Legends team and tattoos with them at pop-culture conventions internationally. [12]
Lifestyle[edit]
Tom has been vegan since 2001, and his studio and tattoos follow a completely vegan friendly process.[13]
In 2017 he featured in Tattoo or Taboo, a short narrative led factual documentary exploring the effects of tattoos on employment, in which he discussed his views on tattoo discrimination and employability.[14]
