Gabriel Abdel Nour is a Lebanese singer, songwriter, composer, vocal coach, researcher, and musical show presenter who became widely considered as best and most active Lebanese and Arab Tenor who used the International opera techniques feasibly in oriental songs. His repertoire varied from classical opera arias to the Neapolitan songs, including modern French songs; and, later than, oriental songs. When Gabriel sings, a shiver shakes us. Listening to him is an artistic pleasure since His performances evoke the best of humanity, celebrating love, the fatherland, fraternity, peace, and the respect of the human rights. He has been appointed as an Honorary Ambassador of Peace for the Ghanaian Contingent – UNIFIL – Lebanon.

This diverse musical repertoire led to him being called by the Lebanese and Arabic media “Moon of Beirut”, “Arabic Opera Singing Icon”, and the “Artists’ Angel”.

Early life & career beginnings[edit]

As a young child, Gabriel had tendencies towards music and singing. His potential, greeted and recognized by his entourage, especially his maternal grandmother, led him in the beginning to follow courses of piano and musical theory, to work on and develop his singing talent with professional American and French Tenors -and later on- with Masters of the oriental song, taking his sublime and gracious voice to another level. Gabriel holds a Bachelor Degree in Psychology from the Holy Spirit University – Kaslik – with distinction. He made his professional debut by participating in the Ninth Francophone Summit in Lebanon singing internationally renowned songs for some of the legends of international contemporary music (Edith Piaf, Jacques Brel, Dalida, Charles Aznavour, Tino Rossi, Léo Ferré, Gilbert Bécault, Yves Montand, Serge Lama…) Gabriel’s career gained momentum during the launching of his first Arabic album dedicated to the Lebanese International Philosopher Gibran khalil Gibran in which he teamed up with the great Lebanese composer Elie Choueiry who was besides, his first oriental singing coach. These songs deeply reflected Gabriel’s thoughts, beliefs and values.

Albums[edit]

Abdel Nour performed with great success, his first album “singing Gibran” in many concerts with the collaboration of Gibran khalil Gibran National Committee and participated in the celebration of the 125th Jubilee of the birth of Khalil Gibran in Lebanon and abroad. The considerable combination between his vocal technique and the oriental music was highly his greatest strength and impressed the audience and the Lebanese and Arabic media. In 2010, Gabriel recorded his second album “Amar Beirut” which means “Moon of Beirut”, lyrics by Nada Abdel Nour and music by Gabriel himself. Since 2000, Gabriel has been performing Christmas Concerts in 10 languages with the participation of 200 Choir members. In 2017, he performed a huge Christmas concert with the participation of 1000 choir members from Antonine Sisters Schools – Mar Doumit Roumieh in Nohad Nawfal Stadium – Zouk Mikael. Gabriel and the the largest choir in Lebanon and Arabic World ran through an incredible repertoire of 23 songs that featured most of his Christmas Album Songs “3a droub lmghara”, in addition to other Christmas hits. Gabriel dedicated the year 2013 for the Christian Muslim dialogue and launched the Flame of Peace with the participation of a choir that he trained during evenings at the UNESCO Palace and Martyrs’ Square in downtown Beirut, and with the UNIFIL in Qawzah – South Lebanon, the American University of Beirut, Pierre Abu Khater theater, the Big Serail with the participation of Prime Minister Mikati, the National Theatre Mohammed V in Rabat – Morocco, the Ministry of National Defense in Lebanon… 2014 marked the release of two new Albums, "Ghannayt" which means “I sang”, dedicated to the great Lebanese Poet Elias Nasser and “3a Droub Lmghara” which means “Christmas Manger Path” which includes 18 International Christmas Carols written in Arabic by Elias Nasser, Bassima Batouli, Siham Chaachaa, Nada and Gabriel Abdel Nour. In “Ghannayt” Album, Gabriel adapted his songs to twelve International music by great Composers such as Chopin, Beethoven, Shubert, Tchaikovsky, Handel and others. Gabriel Abdel Nour’s Name has been related to the “Acapella” performance of the Lebanese National Anthem. He was the main singer to launch Beirut Marathon in 2007, 2008, “2013 with the participation of the Lebanese first Lady Wafaa Michel Suleiman”, 2014, 2016 and “2017 with the participation of the First Lebanese Lady Nadia Aoun, in adition to (Meziara Marathon - 2008), (Aley and Batroun Marathon – 2012). He performed it also in the Grand Serail Beirut in presence of the Prime Minister Najib Mikati, and in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants in Bustros Palace in the presence of Minister Gibran Bassil and all Ambassadors and Diplomatic Sector celebrating the Independence Day, and in many official and prestigious events. Gabriel achieved Arabic and International career success in the Lebanese Consulate of Dubai, the National Theatre Mohammed V in Rabat – Morocco, The opera House and Azem palce in Damascus, Athens Cultural center, Unesco Paris and in Rome – Italy with the participation of 50 distinguished Italian musicians. Gabriel made many appearances on the majority of the Lebanese and Arabic Media and particular appearances on CNN and Euronews and has been granted numerous awards and honors from Lebanon and abroad.
