The Billion Dollar Spy is an upcoming biographical-drama-thriller film written by Benjamin August and directed by Amma Asante, from the book The Billion Dollar Spy: A True Story of Cold War Espionage and Betrayal by David E. Hoffman and follows the true story of a man who became the Pentagon's most valuable spy during the last years of the Cold War.[1]

On October 29, 2020, Armie Hammer and Mads Mikkelsen was casted in the film.[2] Follow multiple abuse allegations, Hammer was dropped from the cast.[3]
Principal photography began on June 7, 2021, in Los Angeles, California.[4][not in citation given]
