The Black Donnellys are a band from Dublin, Ireland, first formed in 2004. Currently, The Black Donnellys are based in Las Vegas, Nevada, where they are resident musicians at Rí Rá Irish Pub at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino on the Las Vegas Strip. The band consists of singer/songwriter Dave Rooney, and guitarist Dave Browne.

Since 2004, The Black Donnellys have played live shows throughout Europe and America, and recorded albums. The album This is My Home debuted in Dublin in 2009, and was followed in 2010 by If it Ain't Broke.

In 2011, Dave Browne broke the Guinness World Record for longest marathon playing guitar by an individual[1]. Browne played for 114 hours, 6 minutes, and 30 seconds, at the Temple Bar in Dublin, Ireland, from June 12-17, 2011.

In 2011, Dave Rooney wrote and released the album The Entertainer that served as the soundtrack for the musical Cobblestone Sam. Cobblestone Sam was released in Ireland in 2012, based on a man that Rooney had met while performing at Dublin's Temple Bar.

In 2012, Dave Rooney was voted Best Irish Singer/Songwriter of the Year by NYCS "Radio Irish". In 2018 in Dublin, Ireland, Dave Rooney embarked on an independent movie release The Millionaire, for which he also wrote the soundtrack.

In 2014, the band moved to Las Vegas, Nevada to begin their residency at Rí Rá Irish Pub. In October of that year, The Black Donnellys teamed up with other artists at Rí Rá Irish Pub to break the existing record and set a new Guinness World Record for Longest Concert by Multiple Artists. [2] The record was set at 15 days, 12 hours, and 10 minutes and was held until a new record was set in 2017 by Canadian artists in Ontario.

In 2016, The Black Donnellys wrote the hit song Notorious inspired by UFC fighter Conor McGregor. The song was played and regarded as the theme song for UFC 202, Diaz vs. McGregor 2.

In 2018, The Black Donnellys set out in pursuit of another Guinness World Record, with the goal of playing 60 shows in all 50 U.S. states in 40 days. In addition to attempting the Guinness World Record for a concert played in every U.S. state in the shortest amount of time, The Black Donnellys explored the social issue of Irish immigration to America. A documentary feature of The Black Donnellys' travels through America was filmed along the way of their record-breaking journey. An Irish Story: This is My Home was directed by Karl Nickoley of Frequency Pictures and debuts in 2020.[3]
