The Interstellar Art Company

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

The Interstellar Art Company is an austrian psychedelic band from Vienna, which is´nt a company. Woody Hafner and Bob Ruis are the mainmembers of the Interstellar Art Company, but which plays in changing constellation with different musicians.

The early years: In the beginning of the Interstellar Art Company the band brought up radical soundcollections and the instruments are played alternately by the musicians.

There are three albums known from this era:

1997 - Captain Honey & the Bears 1998 - In the Beginning 1999 - III - Feathered fish and other Storys

each with Eatable Love, and Gerold Voglauer as guest-musicians.

It seems as if the Interstellar Art Company doesn´t appear on concert. The Interstellar Art company is a winner of the MySpace-Boom.

At this time several contributions were broadcasted by the student-radio Aachen in their psychedelic-programs. Around the same time Psychedelic-Velveeta and other more around the globe in the USA, CAN, AUS, ITA broadcasted about the "Bigband with two faces" and their music.

The reaction to this broadcasts was a total breakdown of all servers and phone-connections at Wild-Bunch Records during their broadcast "Mooving Sidewalks" aired by John "Mystery Tramp" Jaczkowski. The broadcast has been repeated three times, as same as in Canada and Autralia wherby GB repeated it two times.

Because of the on-during repetition in Ohio in one of the transmissions of Psychedelic Velveeta a track-name had to be changed from "Stealing from the Poor" to "Stealing from the Past" to be able to emitt. What followed were sixthousands clicks per day on The Interstellar Art Company-MySpace-Site, which actually does not exist anymore.

Radio DJ Mystery Tramp is applyied as the discoverer of The Interstellar Art Company in the USA, who mentioned him regularly in his weekly sidewalk-broadcasts about bands around the world. The host was given by wild Bunch Radio which was linked all around the world. Fact is that without John "Mystery Tramp" Jaczkowski the Interstellar Art Company wouldn´t be known that way they are in the US.

To some critics the exponential success is grounded to two reasons. The soundcollections moved in the background and the sound lost a bit radicality. The new selection of guest-musicians and members have enriched the sound of The Interstellar Art Company around Mastermind Woody Hafner. With two of the big ones like Roxanne Szankovich who was further known in the psychedelic-folk-scene before (Rainbow Lagune) and Chris Molisch who is one of the insidertips of the austrian guitar-scene (City Slickers, Candela).

musicians of the second period:

Woody Hafner: g, Key, voc Bobby Ruis: g, back voc, keys Gerold Voglauer: b, voc Chris Molisch: g, voc Roxanne Szankovich: vio Atrjeu Fiedler: perc John Juniper: perc

After the sudden death of John "Mystery Tramp" Jaczkowski 2008 things went quiet in the USA. Some fanpages came up, but till now nothing professional seems to appear, even as the band seems active. Vita Brevis Ars Longa ist a not-released Album. Why it isn´t so now is unknown...
