The Modern System of the Arts is an essay by Paul Oskar Kristeller written in 1951 and published later in Journal of the History of Ideas 1978. The essay deals with the Philosophy of Art and the History of the arts in their transition from the early crafts to Les Beaux-Arts or Fine Arts, the ability to create art for art's sake.
