The Onymous (2018 Film)
The Onymous is a 2018 thriller written and directed by Brandon Valencia and produced by his brother, Byron Valencia. The film is the second feature under the brothers' production banner, BSV Entertainment. The film centers on the dark web - the sector of the internet not indexed by common search engines. The film was BSV Entertainment's most expensive film, at a budget of $20,000, which mostly came from private investors. It was shot over a period of 11 days in the summer of 2018.
The story centers on Max Weintraub, who's searching for his missing sister, Bonnie, after she's been abducted by Rygle, a darknet operator and cyberterrorist, who murders victims live on the dark web. After Max's investigation is on the heels of Rygle's dungeon of horrors, he races against time in order to save Bonnie. The story was inspired by the brothers' growing skepticism on the dangers of hacking, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence.
