The Perfect Escape (2022) is a wild comedy exploring the complicated emotional and sexual relationships of four couples. The Perfect Escape is a feature film, directed by Cristina Jacob, produced by Jacob Brothers and Zazu Film.

Production[edit]

The Perfect Escape shooting started in March 2021 and is currently in post-production. The main locations of the filming were Buftea Studios and Amfiteatrul Transilvania.[1][2]

The team is a mix of professionals from all across Europe and the creative heads of the production are: J.P. Garcia as director of photography, Cristian Niculescu handling production design, Ioana Albaiu in charge of costume design, Dora Codita as head make-up artist, Clara Peta as key hair stylist, Stavros Avramidis as sound mixer, Adrian Popescu as special effects supervisor, Cristinel Sirli as re-recording mixer, Mihai Codleanu as image editor and Andrei Tudor for music composition.

The Perfect Escape production process took place during the Covid-19 pandemic. Although the script was ready in time, the production was delayed several months due to the special preparations and the new work procedures.[3] Production costs have increased and a new department was specifficaly created in order to ensure that every crew member respects the sanitary conditions: Cinematography is one of the most affected domains during this period. Whether it's Hollywood or Bucharest, the audience is waiting for new stories. It is a new, difficult and often absurd situation, said Cristina Jacob.[4]

The Perfect Escape script was written by Cristina Jacob, together with Tim John and Andreea Georgescu.[5][6]

Casting[edit]

The international casting of The Perfect Escape was possible through online platforms.[7] The cast is a mix of actors from all across the world: Nigel Whitmey from the U.K., Mark Holden from Canada, Giorgia Sinicorni from Italy, Aggy K. Adams from Germany, Bogdan Iancu from Romania, Laura Hamisultane from France, Maeva Demurger from France, Stacy Thunes from the United States.[8][9]
