It was directed and narrated by Mark Cousins, a film critic from Northern Ireland, based on his 2004 book The Story of Film.[2][3]

The Story of Film: A New Generation takes over where the aforementioned series finished, taking over 10 years of the most influential films of the decade, from the year 2010 to 2021.
