The game of Slicket

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

The game of Slicket was created in 11 Broughton Place Edinburgh in Michaelmas term of the academic year of 2017-18 by 4 students at the University of Edinburgh. Like the game of Eton fives, Slicket was created by 4 students with time on their hands and a quest to bring sport into their everyday lives. The founders of this hallowed sport include Dave Thomas, 3 time iron man and sporting legend, amateur maverick cricketer Edward Venison, and the noteworthy Olliver Frazier, the renowned East Anglian cricketer Jorge Broughton, the many time missed outer of the record, was also present.

The Rules: The game can be played with anywhere from 2 players (a short test match) to 8 people, however the optimum amount of players seems to be around 5 people. The game is played with one batsmen and one bowler with fielders placed in specific locations throughout the flat. The game operates a strict one hand one bounce rule. The stumps are represented by wall skirting and any hit down the off side of the stumps backward counts as out. The game is scored on bowls faced, representing runs, with a clear shot through the bathroom door (the bowlers mark) counting as two, however beware batsmen as hit deemed too aggressive by the participants counts as a warning and any hit clearing the bathroom door without bouncing counts as out. Likewise bowlers are given warnings for bowling deemed too aggressive. Both the bowler and batsmen have three warnings per innings.

Play Under Review: The bowling action remains heavily in dispute. However it is generally deemed that the bowler should throw out the back of his/her hand. With a degree in the rules of sport and pushing the legality of play into the grey area, Dave Thomas offers a challenge to this agreement, seconded by the maverick Edward Venison and the noteworthy Olliver Frazier, wherein the speed of the bowling is the factor to be taken into account, thus a bowler may bowl out of the front of their hand, offering an advantage in spin and angle of throw. It is generally agreed that the ruling of the action should be agreed prior to each game to avoid dispute. If in doubt the standard ruling states that the bowling style should be monitored by the speed of it's delivery.

Hall of famers: Magnus Walking valiantly skipping supper with his girlfriend achieved a tremendous record of 29 runs in his second innings, only to beat it in his third innings with a mighty 34 runs on the 1st of February 2018.

Jorge Broughton beat this record on the 3rd of March 2018, However was overruled to to foul play and terrible sportsmanship, thus alongside having his record removed has been banned for 3 games, for these games being forced to watch and not participate while eating a banana, his least favourite food, as compensation for his actions.
