The path of Somalia's reunification

Somalia is a nation that once experienced with a civil war that took almost 30 years. The war caused the collapse of one strong government and led some states to either self declare their own independence or their own federal governors. The division of the people with the same religion, culture, language, and ethic gave a chance to the entire of the world to have the capability to interfere their political affairs. The westerns and the neighboring nations immediately started to send delegations in order to deploy their troops all the way to Somalia and play competition roles in Somalia’s internal conflicts. The foreign interference was truly durable damage to this failed nation. The handouts of the westerns were not really helping the situation instead it was getting worse because every nation was using this as an excuse to involve in the conflict. Since different rebels were busy fighting each other, a group of Terrorist Called Al-Shabab broke up in the country. This Islamic extremist spread out propaganda and delivered persuasive speeches in order to convince the civilians to join the fighting and fight for their valuable religion and this helped the chaos in the nation to last long.

Before the civil war broke up, the country was peaceful and had a strong government. In July 1st Somalia gained its independence from both Italian and British colonies. Even though British Somaliland was freed first in 26th June, then in July first, both of the British and Italian Somaliland joined together and built one strong nation. The first President Aden Abdulle Osman was elected in a democratic way. Somalia is known as the first African nation who transferred the power peacefully (Democratically). Under Aden Adde’s rule Somalia waged a war against Ethiopia in order to free the OGADENIAN Territory. This Territory was given Ethiopia by the British colonies in 1948, as they promised In 1880s that they will give territory to Ethiopia if they help them to conquer Western Somalis. Surely, Somalia did not win the war, since the war was not well prepared.

The second election took place in Somalia in 1967, while the SYL party led by Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke won the election. As usual the previous president transferred the power calmly. Misfortune event had occurred in 1969, because the president was assassinated by one of his special guards in Laascaanood, Somalia. This incident was seemed that unusual disorder began and the country was actually falling in the hands of different rebels. The parliament sat and started to discuss about the next holder of the Office till the next election will take place.
