Thomas O'Hara (born January 9,1997) who is a British Fine Artist "Focusing on the land and it’s relationship to man, touching upon the incongruity that exists between them"[1]. "For his pieces, Thomas O’Hara took photos of some of the green areas on the outskirts of Bradford, including Ilkley, before transferring those images onto embroidery. He said: “It is inspired of by the idea of how important it is get out and get active within Bradford. Two thirds of Bradford is rural.”[2]

His work first came to prominence in 2018 after his 3rd Exhibition at the South Square Gallery, Which was Called "Hillstart"[3] which was a collaboration with other developing artists. "Hillstart is a collection of work by students of Bradford College’s School of Art and will run through March at South Square in Thornton".[4]

Early life and education[edit]

Thomas Shane O'Hara, only son of Rosemary O'Hara and Roddy Anthony O'Hara, was born on born January 9,1997 in Leeds, West Yorkshire, he was named after his Grandfather Thomas. O'Hara had always shown and interest in his surroundings, he showed an interest and talent from an early age at drawing, creating things, taking photographs whilst at home and showed a great imagination, processing his ideas into objects and drawing, however it was not until high school that O'Hara showed his talent for Art to others outside his close friends and family. His first Primarily school was at Hugh Gaitskell Primary School and his parents decided to transferred him to Beeston Primary School, which would accommodate his learning and requirements more appropriately.

Thomas O'Hara was active both in school and outside, such as Dancing at O'Donell School of dance, Boys Scots, Rugby, Badminton, American Football, His father would take him Scuba diving and both became qualified drivers, this gave O'Hara an all new world to see.

During his childhood, O'Hara would accompany his Mother on bicycle rides, short walk and camping holidays where he found his love for the landscape, prior to Rosemary and Roddy O'Hara divorce, O'Hara would go on various family outings to seaside and national trust and go abroad, he has traveled quite extensively in his young life. Whilst O'Hara Father was a driver he would accompany is Father during school holidays and O'Hara would see vast amounts of countryside on these journeys and this further developed his love of the landscape. During all these outings O'Hara became aware of the incongruity within the landscape, initially pylons and once he noticed these man-made objects within the natural landscape he questioned not the need for pylons, but how many there were and where they were positioned. This is when he started to notice other juxtapositions within the landscape.

O'Hara attention Cockburn High School which Specialised in arts obtains his normal education qualification and the top level for his BETC level II in Art and Design. O'Hara enrolled at Leeds College of Art in 2013 and received top level for his BETC level III in Fine Art in 2015, he continues his studies in 2015 at Batley School of Art and received a distinction for his Foundation Degree in Colour Theory and Design. It was only when he was 19 years old that he Moved to Bradford where he enrolled for Visual Arts BA Honours at Bradford School of Art in 2016.During this, O'Hara took part in the "Born in Bradford project"[5] is rule and many others artist was to Visually interpreted the born in Bradford project, the work was later Displayed at the Dye House Gallery in Bradford, then after is Ongoing success with Instagram he then when to Display his work at South Square Gallery, in Thornton, Bradford.
