Tiana Raca (Larnaca, Cyprus, October 28, 1997) is a Serbian basketball player and representative of the selection of Cyprus, currently playing for the Wyoming University College[1], NCAA (Wyoming, USA). Her height is 185cm / 6'0 ’’ and she plays at the back side. Tiana is one of the most talented young players in Europe. At the age of 14, she started playing for the first team of AEL women's basketball club Limassol from Cyprus. During her career she always played with players who were older than her. At age 15, as the youngest player in the championship (for players up to 20 years old), she was named MVP player, best shooter and she was in the top five of the championship. Since 13 years she has played for the representation of Cyprus (U16).

Career[edit]

Born in Cyprus, Tijana started playing basketball in 2007 at the AEL club from Limassol (junior team). In Seasons 2007/08. she played for the AEL junior team from Limassol (Cyprus). In the same team she played in the 2008/09 season. and 2009/10. In season 2010/11. and 2011/12. she played for A1 AEL team from Limassol. She won the 2008 Cyprus Cadet Championship; 2009; 2010 and 2012. She was a member of the U16 - Cyprus 2010 and 2013 Cadet Team. She won the Cyprus Championship (A1) in 2011 and 2012. In 2012 she won the Cyprus Cup with the AEL team. She won the 2012 Cyprus School Championship. With the PAOK team won the Greek Junior Basketball Championship 2013. With the PAOK team, they were the finalists of the Greek Cup 2013. With the school team she won the Greek School Championship as team captain - 2013, 2014 and 2015.

Three consecutive seasons: 2012/13, 2013/14, and 2013/15. she played for A1 basketball team PAOK[2] from Thessaloniki (Greece). At the same time, she played for the junior and senior team of PAOK. At the European Championships (U16), Division C at Gibler 2013 won the gold medal as the first shooter-1 (16.8poen), rebounds-3 (8.9), assists - 2 (2.0), 3PT -1 (58%) and free throw FT -1 (89%). It was declared the best player of the Championship (MVP). She participated as captain at the World Championships in Limoges (France) in 2015. At the same championship, 2015 (World School Championship in Limoges - France) she won a gold medal (fair play).

Since 2015 she has been playing for the Wyoming NCAA basketball team[3], NCAA (Wayoming, USA) where he has achieved excellent results.

With the representation of Cyprus[4], she performed at the FIBA European Women's European Championship for Small Countries, held in Ireland in 2018 (Cork, Ireland).

Family[edit]

Tijana comes from a basketball family. Dragan Raca, father is a former Serbian basketball player and well-known basketball coach who built his career (in Cyprus, Greece and China). He was the coach of the basketball teams of Lebanon, Cyprus and Macedonia. He has also noticed the achievements of her coach in China since 2010. Today he heads the basketball club Beikong Fly Dragons[5], a member of the Chinese CBA league, as a coach, head of the profession and general supervisor. For his many years of work in the field of basketball, he was promoted to the Honorary Doctor of Sciences at the "Alpha BK University"[6].

Mother Branka Raca is a former basketball player and coach who built her career in Serbia and Cyprus. She was her first coach. Ivana's sister, (Larnaca, Cyprus, September 10, 1999) is a Serbian basketball player and representative of the young Serbian national team (U-20), who currently participates in the university basketball team of the Wake Forest School in North Carolina.
