    History[edit]

TimeClick® is a time clock software developed by the company Hawkeye Technology, LLC which was founded in 1977,[1] around the time computers were just being developed and used.[2] The company began with a focus on financial processing and data management for banks and small businesses but in 1993 they released their first version of TimeClick for employee time tracking which corresponded with the release of Microsoft Windows NT 3.1.[3] This was also around the time when multiple time clock software systems were being created and many businesses made comments on their benefits. In 2013 the article "New Technology for Managing Remote Workers" noted that TimeClick, along with other time tracking systems that were appearing on the scene, provided environmental benefits as reports and time sheets could be saved electronically.[4]

Like many early time tracking systems, TimeClick software was designed originally for small- to medium- sized businesses or any small healthcare practice needing time and attendance software. Several versions of the software were released over the next 25 years. In 1996 the program was entirely rewritten. In 2010, version 10.3.5 of the software was released. This version allowed users to run a variety of reports showing the breakdown of total hours, regular, and overtime hours for the first time. The next two software releases came in 2012 with version LE and in 2013 with LE SP1. These two versions used an SQL database structure differing from the database structure used in previous versions of TimeClick. In 2014 and 2016, LE 12[5]  and LE 16[6] were released. These two versions had minor changes to the program in the user interface and some reports. In 2018 as the software was rewritten again using a PostreSql database structure instead of COBOLwhich was used for previous versions. TimeClick announced a business partnership with Passport Software, Inc in the year 2014.[7]

    Product and Features[edit]

TimeClick time tracking software is currently the only product sold by Hawkeye Technology. The program's primary features and functionalities include clocking in and out for employees, hours reports and managing system settings for administrators, and tracking paid vacation, sick, and personal time off along with overtime hours. In 2017, Better Buys (an objective software reviewing site) reviewed the TimeClick system and noted that the software is easy to use and is "scalable" depending on the number of computers needed but did not have cloud or mobile functionality yet.[8]

    Recognition[edit]

In 2014, TimeClick software was recognized on VagueWare.com as being one of the top 10 software options to automate time tracking.[9] Better Business Bureau (BBB) granted the company an "A" rating in the year 2017.[10] The independent review site Capterra awarded TimeClick software with Best Value and Best Support in the year 2017 and Best Ease of Use in the year 2018.[11]
