2013 - Life Is Beautiful[edit]

Former twice World Superbike champion[1] James Toseland formed the band Toseland following an accident on the track which forced the end of his career as a motorcycle racer [2]. James began writing songs with former Little Angels vocalist/songwriter turned producer, Toby Jepson. [3]

In April 2013 Toseland’s first EP, ‘Life Is Beautiful’ was released along with a music video, which received over 170,000 views and was immediately A Listed by Planet Rock (radio station).[4]

The band also hit the road for their first shows, including appearances at Download Festival[5], Goodwood Festival of Speed [6], Planet Rock Stock and tours supporting Reef (band) and a reunited Little Angels. [7]

The single and video ‘Renegade’ was released in October and was once again A listed by Planet Rock Radio. [8] The band continued to tour the UK for the rest of the year.

2014 - Renegade[edit]

Toseland started 2014 opening for Status Quo[9], before releasing the debut album ‘Renegade’ in March via James’ own 52 Music label. [10] The album spawned 3 more singles and videos (‘Crash Landing’ [11], ‘Singer In A Band’ and ‘Just No Way’). The album went on to sell over 10,000 copies. [12]

Along with more headlining shows[13], the band played Chris Evans (presenter)' CarFest[14], Steelhouse Festival in Ebbw Vale, Wales, Triumph Live [15] and Camden Rocks [16], as well as heading to Italy to play their first shows abroad supporting Michael Monroe. [17] They also made a notable appearance at The Calling festival alongside Aerosmith, Joe Bonamassa, Thunder (band) and Richie Sambora. [18]

2015 - Hearts And Bones[edit]

April 2015 saw the release of the first new material from the band since the debut album was released, in the form on the ‘Heart & Bones’ EP and video.[19] Once again produced and co-written with Toby Jepson, the EP featured 2 new tracks (the title track and ‘The Closer I Get’) along with a rocked-up cover of The Teardrop Explodes hit ‘Reward’. The band – featuring Zurab Melua (Guitar), Ed Bramford (Guitar), Roger Davis (bass) and Joe Yoshida (Drums) – hit the road headlining shows in the UK to support the release. [20][21]

Metalville Records in Germany signed Toseland to release ‘Renegade’ in Europe and North America, adding 2 bonus tracks taken from the ‘Hearts & Bones’ EP. The album was issued in August, also featuring brand new artwork.[22]

2016 - Cradle The Rage[edit]

In March 2016 Toseland released their second album ‘Cradle the Rage’. Toby Jepson had handled production duties again, and Mike Fraser ([AC/DC], [Bryan Adams], [Mötley Crüe]) was brought in to mix.[23]

Over the course of the year ‘Puppet on a Chain’[24], ‘Too Close to Call’ and ‘We’ll Stop at Nothing’ [25] were all issued as radio singles with music videos. Planet Rock continued to provide invaluable support to the band with plenty of airplay, and they were constantly on the road. [26][27]

This year also saw Toseland spend more time abroad touring all over Europe with the likes of Deep Purple and Black Stone Cherry.[28]

2017 - We'll Stop At Nothing[edit]

April saw the release of a double A-side single (featuring ‘Fingers Burned’ – taken from the ‘Cradle The Rage’ album - and the previously unreleased track ‘Bullet’), along with a headline UK tour.[29] In Europe Metallville Records released the single as an EP, adding an otherwise unavailable acoustic version of ‘We’ll Stop at Nothing’ and ‘Reward’ (taken from the ‘Hearts & Bones’ EP). [30]

Toseland were also asked to re-record their single ‘We’ll Stop at Nothing’ along with the ChorusUK choir to be used as the official song for the Special Olympics Great Britain.[31] The band performed the song, along with ChorusUK, at the opening ceremony at Bramall Lane in Sheffield. [32]

As 2017 comes to a close, the band will play London shows supporting Jimmy Barnes and The Von Hertzen Brothers and have announced that they have signed a worldwide record deal with Italian label Frontiers Records.[33]

Toseland have announced through their social media channels that they have now begun work writing album number three, which is planned for release in the Autumn of 2018.
