Ty Newcomb

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Tyler 'Ty' Newcomb (Born April 18, 1992[1] in Glenwood Springs, Colorado) is an American self-taught photographer based out of Boulder, Colorado in The United States[2][3][4]. He is best recognized for landscape and travel photography and visual art.[5]

Education[edit]

Newcomb graduated from high school in 2010 in Carbondale, Colorado, where he grew up. After high school, he attended The University of Colorado at Boulder, where he studied International Affairs and Political Science.[6] He is purportedly completely self-taught in photography and film and has no formal education in either field whatsoever.[7]

Early Life[edit]

Impassioned by the outdoors and extreme sports, and spending nearly his entire childhood outdoors and skiing in Aspen since the ski area was only 30 minutes from his home, Newcomb began filming his friends and acquaintances who excelled at skiing and snowboarding after being inspired by the Warren Miller ski films him and his family would attend in Aspen each year. Newcomb made a small business out of compiling clips together and selling them to the sponsors of the riders as well as making short films from them for his friends on social media[6]. The likes of these riders included X Games medalist and Olympian Torin Yater-Wallace and Walter Wood among many others[8]

Career[edit]

Newcomb began his early career largely focusing his work around Colorado clients and locations but since branched out internationally and has worked as a freelance photographer on both editorial and commercial projects.[9][10][11] Some notable clients includes the likes of United Airlines, FIA Formula E, Land Rover, Samsung, General Mills, and Anheuser-Busch[12][13][14]. Currently, Newcomb works largely with tourism boards and brands from around the world.[15]
