UNIPETROL DOPRAVA, s.r.o. (VKM: UNIDO) is the third largest Czech railway conveyor, and also operates in the area of rail tank car leasing. In addition, it operates a railway tank wash station and carries out repairs of rail vehicles in its own workshops. The company was founded in 1995 as CHEMOPETROL - DOPRAVA a.s. The original name expresses the company’s first incorporation, which was as a detachment of railway operations in the siding of the Chemopetrol chemical plant in Litvínov.
The company was thus initially only engaged in operations in the siding in Litvínov, but with Chemopetrol’s incorporation into the UNIPETROL group, it started progressively taking over other sidings of chemical plants within this group. The company currently operates sidings in Litvínov, Kralupy nad Vltavou, Neratovice, Pardubice, Semtín and Kolín. In 2003, the company’s name finally changed to its current form.
Operation in the SŽDC network[edit]
In addition to operating sidings, Unipetrol Doprava is currently also engaged in goods railway transport in SŽDC’s rail network. This particularly involves the transportation of chemical products between individual plants within the UNIPETROL group; however it also operates several international routes to all of the neighbouring states in collaboration with foreign conveyors.
Engine stock[edit]
The basis of the engine stock for the line service originally included – just like other private conveyors in the CR – locomotives of the 740 series, and also 770 and 771. The company however sold its 770 and 771 series locomotives then gradually expanded its fleet of mainline locomotives with 8 locomotives of the 753.7 series.[1] The conveyer uses modernised locomotives of the 121series.
In the siding operations of this company, we also find machines of the 740 series and locomotives built as a result of their modernisation (724.6[2],724.7 and 744.7series). In addition, there are locomotives of the 711 (transformation from 710) and 729.6 series. In the siding in Litvínov, we can also see two locomotives of the 717 series (diesel-hydraulic locomotives in non-explosive versions - type DHG 700 C manufactured by the Thyssen Henschel engine factory in Kassel) and one motor vehicle of the 820 series, converted into a workshop car. In Kralupy nad Vltavou, locomotives of the 709.5 series are operated in a two-unit control.
In 2010, the conveyer had 6 locomotives of the 740 series modernized to 741.5
In 2015, Unipetrol Doprava test-leased a TRAXX D-Rpool 186.432 locomotive.
Unipetrol Doprava purchased three Vectron MS modular multi-system locomotives from Siemens in April 2017[3]. In 2017, the company also purchased two EffiLiner 1600 type locomotives indicated as 753.6 series from CZ LOKO; specifically these are engines 753.606 and 753.607.[4]
