Ullman Sails

Ullman Sails is an international sailmaking company with representation in 75 locations in 25 countries. The group comprises of a collection of independently owned sailmaking lofts as well as an extensive network of Ullman dealers located around the world. The group provides sails for a wide range of craft including sailing and racing yachts, one design boats, classic vessels and superyachts. In addition, they also provide repair services and create bespoke canvas products for the marine industry.[1]

Ullman Sails was founded in 1967 by then 21-year-old David Ullman. The first loft was located in Newport Beach in California.[2] The second Ullman Sails loft in Dallas was added in 1979. During the 80s and 90s Ullman opened up lofts throughout the world, expanding their reach to include representation on every single continent. The group also owns a major sail manufacturing plant in Cape Town [2] with a membrane plant where their trademark FiberParth sails.[3] are constructed. The Ullman Sails technical team is headed up by racing sailor and technical expert Brad Stephens [4]. Five-time circumnavigator Skip Novak, is an ambassador for the company and is involved in developing their expedition series [5]

Results[edit]

In 2016 the Ullman Sails powered TP52 Balance[6] won first overall in the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race [7]. Ullman Sails won the Airlie Beach Race Week in 2017 on a 33’ Grainger designed cat built[8].The Ullman Sails company also sponsored a development team in the Cape to Rio Yacht Race. [9]
