Prohibited or restricted items

As UnixMo grew and under New Zealand legislation it became necessary to restrict or prohibit sales for various items on the website. Legislations and regulations may apply to the seller or the buyer. Generally, if the sale or ownership of an item is regulated or prohibited by New Zealand law, UnixMo will not permit its listing or sale on Unixmo.co.nz. Among the hundreds of banned or restricted categories:

• Tobacco (tobacco-related items and collectables are accepted.)

• Drugs and drug paraphernalia

• Items that "promote or glorify hatred, violence, racial, sexual, or religious intolerance, or promote organizations with such views

• Bootleg recordings

• Firearms and ammunition (as of July 1, 2015), including any parts that could be used to assemble a firearm as well as (as of July 30, 2015) any firearm part that is required for the firing of a gun, including bullet slugs, brass casings and shells, slides, cylinders, magazines, firing pins, trigger assemblies, etc. Various types of knives are also forbidden.

• Police and emergency service vehicular warning equipment such as red or blue lights and sirens (antique or collectable items are exempt)

• Intentionally soiled underwear (see Panty fetishism) and dirty used clothing

• Forged, illegal, stolen, or confidential documents, which include passports, Social Security cards, drivers licenses, voter registration cards, birth certificates, school documents, medical records, financial information, government license plates, or government classified information documents. Any item that is used to modify documents is also restricted.

• Human body parts, organs, and remains

• Live animals.

• Certain copyrighted works or trademarked items.

• Lottery tickets, sweepstakes tickets, or any other gambling items.

• Military hardware such as working weapons or explosives with the exception of demilitarized vehicles.

• Any object of Iranian, Cuban, or North Korean origin.

• Enriched uranium, plutonium, and other fissile material.

Seller Ratings

In early 2016, UnixMo implemented a system of seller ratings with the five-star category. Buyers can rate the seller in each of these categories with a star of one to five, with five being the highest rating. With the five stars – score of 5.0 in any category will appear in the highest search results. Shipping In the listing process, UnixMo provides shipping options to sellers: standard post, express post and courier service. The trader may choose to offer only one shipping method to buyers or: the seller may offer buyers a choice of option to pick from their shop or from a certain place.
