Untitled George Foreman film is a 2023 American biographical drama film directed by George Tillman Jr. from a screenplay that he co-wrote with Frank Baldwin based on an original script written by Dan Gordon. The film stars Khris Davis and Forest Whitaker.

The film is scheduled to be released in the United States on March 31, 2023, by Sony Pictures Releasing.

Plot[edit]

The life and times of George Foreman, from Olympic Gold medalist to World Heavyweight champion, Rumble in the Jungle fight with Muhammad Ali in Zaire, to preacher, then stepping back in the ring to regain the heavyweight champion at age 45.

On March 9, 2020, George Tillman Jr. was set to direct a George Foreman biopic with David Zelon producing the film through Mandalay Pictures.[1] On May 21, 2021, Affirm Films acquired the film with Peter Guber producing the film and Tillman Jr. and Frank Baldwin rewrote Dan Gordon's script.[2]

Casting[edit]

On May 21, 2021, Khris Davis and Sullivan Jones were casted as Foreman and Muhammad Ali, respectively.[2] On August 30, 2021, Michael Kenneth Williams was casted as Doc Broadus, but Forest Whitaker later took over the role after Williams' death.[3][4] In February 2022, Jasmine Mathews, Sonja Sohn, John Magaro and Shein Mompremier joined the cast.[5]

Filming[edit]

Principal photography was set to begin on October 10, 2021, and expected to conclude on February 9, 2021, in New Orleans, Louisiana, but on November 10, the filming start date was moved to early 2022.[2][6][4]

Release[edit]

The film is scheduled to be released in the United States on March 31, 2023, by Sony Pictures Releasing.[7] The film was originally set for release on September 16, 2022, March 24, 2023, and April 7, 2023, before moving to its March 31 date.[8][9][10]
