The Untitled Saw Film is an upcoming 2020 American horror film and the ninth installment in the Saw franchise. It will be directed by Darren Lynn Bousman and written by Chris Rock, along with the writers of Jigsaw, Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger.

On January 16, 2018, Lionsgate were reported to have begun discussing a ninth installment, for which The Spierig Brothers would not be returning.[1] On April 3, 2018, Twisted Pictures were publicized to have begun actively developing a sequel with writers Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger.[2]
On May 16, 2019, it was confirmed that a ninth film in the series was officially in production. Former series director Darren Lynn Bousman will return to helm the film. Bousman directed Saw II, Saw III and Saw IV. Comedian and actor Chris Rock wrote a story treatment for the film and will also serve as an executive producer. Jigsaw writers Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger will write the script. Rock stated “I’ve been a fan of Saw since the first film in 2004. I am excited by the opportunity to take this to a really intense and twisted new place.”[3][4] On May 21, 2019, Digital Spy reported that a trailer may release sometime around Halloween 2019, or early 2020.[5]
