VR Simulators Centre

VR Simulators is a virtual reality racing centre in Gallowgate, Glasgow. The centre claims to be the first 5D Virtual Reality (VR) racing centre in Europe [1] and has 14 simulators. It is open to members of the public as well as for group and party bookings. The company was established in February 2018 by founder John Kerr[2] and has undergone expansion and improvement since.

The Equipment[edit]

The VR simulators use nVidia graphics cards and direct drive wheel rims and pedals from Fanatec. The car and racing content is taken from the Project Cars 2 racing simulation game. VR Simulators, who are working with publishers Slightly Mad Studios to help develop further game content, is the first fixed venue to use the software, enabling drivers to choose from 100 cars and 50 tracks.

5D Racing Experience[edit]

VR Simulators claims to be the first 5D racing centre in Europe. As well as length, height, depth and the motion of the simulator seats, wind generation software is used to simulate a fifth dimension.

History[edit]

The company was formed as the first full motion VR centre[3], in February 2018, with 10 simulators. In May 2018, the centre upgraded to 5D with the addition of wind generation software and in June 2018 they expanded to 14 simulators. In October 2018, VR Simulators added Direct Drive wheels and professional pedals.
