VU Cyberthon

VU Cyberthon is an annual international cyber security competition organized by Vilnius University for enthusiasts interested in this field. For 24 hours participants involved in solving Capture the Flag type of challenges. The aim of the competition is to inspire and encourage participants for independent analysis of cyber security problems and security methods and develop critical thinking and creativity.

History

First VU Cyberthon was held February 11th 2021 online. More than 170 participants from over 14 countries took part in the competition. It considered to be one of the largest cyber security awareness events in Lithuania for high school and university students.

Government support

The event is highly supported by Lithuanian government as a platform to increase awareness of cyber security issues. In 2021 Lithuanian Ministry of Education, Science and Sport and Forensic Science Center of Lithuania took part in creating challenges for participants.
