Vaughan Simon Roberts (born 1959, in Dorking, Surrey, UK) is an Anglican priest, writer and speaker specialising in how Christianity relates to organizational and popular culture. His authored and co-authored books include 'Kingdom Stories: Telling, Leading Discerning' (SCM Press, 2020); 'The Power of Story to Change a Church' (Grove Books, 2017); with David Sims 'Leading By Story: Rethinking Church Leadership' (SCM Press, 2017) and with Clive Marsh 'Personal Jesus: How Popular Music Shapes our Souls' (Baker Academic Press, 2012). Both 'Kingdom Stories' and 'Personal Jesus' received nominations for the Michael Ramsey Prize.
He has contributed book chapters to 'The Bloomsbury Handbook of Religion and Popular Music' edited by Christopher Partridge and Marcus Moberg (Bloomsbury, 2017, second edition 2023); 'Untold Stories in Organizations' edited by Michal Izak, Linda Hitchin and David Anderson (Routledge, 2015); 'How to Become a Creative Church Leader' edited by John Nelson (Canterbury Press, 2008); 'Managing the Church: Order and Organization in a Secular Age' edited by G R Evans and Martyn Percy (Sheffield Academic Press, 2000); and 'Explorations in Theology and Film' edited by Clive Marsh and Gaye Ortiz (Blackwell, 1997). Roberts was educated at Montgomery of Alamein School and Peter Symonds College in Winchester. He read Biblical Studies at Bangor University (1977-80), gained an MA in Theological Studies at McCormick Theological Seminary, Chicago (1982), and a PhD in the School of Management at the University of Bath (1999), which was supervised by the late Professor Iain L. Mangham (author and Head of the University of Bath School of Management.)
He trained for ordained ministry at Westcott House, Cambridge (1983-1985) and was ordained deacon at Guildford Cathedral in 1985 and priested there in 1986. He served as Assistant Curate at St Thomas on the Bourne Farnham (1985-1989), where his training incumbent was Christopher Herbert. Roberts was also Chaplain at the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice (1988-1989). He was University Chaplain at the University of Bath (1989-1996) and a lecturer in the School of Education and the continuing education programme. Whilst in Bath he served as Priest-in-Charge of Christ Church, Bath (1992-1996). From 1996 to 2003 Roberts was Priest-in-Charge of the Chewton Mendip Benefice, Vocations Adviser and Director of Ordinands for the Diocese of Bath and Wells.
Until January 2023 he was Vicar of the Collegiate Church of St Mary, Warwick and Team Rector of Warwick, where in April 2016 he interviewed Dame Judi Dench as part of the opening of an exhibition and series of events to mark the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death.

On 7th March 2021 whilst live streaming Sunday worship at St Mary's he was involved in a filter mishap when sunglasses and a hat in the style of the Blues Brothers appeared over his face as he welcomed viewers to the service. This was first reported on ClassicFM and then went viral with several national newspapers. It was also picked up by Midlands Today on BBC 1, Steph's Packed Lunch on Channel 4 and shown on the 2021 TV BAFTA Awards on BBC 1 (6th June 2021).
On Sunday 1st May 2022 during a service of Choral Evensong Roberts was collated and inducted by the Bishop of Coventry as an Honorary Canon at the Cathedral Church of St Michael, Coventry, and assigned a stall and a voice in the College of Canons. His final service at St Mary’s, Warwick was Choral Evensong on 23rd January 2023 which was recorded and broadcast by Radio 3 on 25th January (the celebration of the Conversion of St Paul).

Roberts is Chair of the MODEM Hub for Leadership, Management and Ministry, as well as being a member of the American Academy of Religion, the Society for the Study of Theology, the Theology, Religion and Popular Culture Network and the Society of Catholic Priests (SCP). He lives in Chichester.
He supports Aston Villa Football Club and Surrey Country Cricket Club.
Vaughan is married to Mandy, a retired headteacher, they have a daughter and a son, and five grandchildren.
