Victor Jamal Mitchell Jr. (ミッチェル ビクター ジャモー) is an American Football running back for the Panasonic Impulse, a top tier X1 Super division team of the X-League. He played college football at the University of Virginia's College at Wise.

Early Life[edit]

Mitchell was born in Yokosuka, Japan and lived in Yokohama, Japan until the age of 6. He is the son of former Navy sailor Victor Jamal Mitchell and nurse Kyoko Mitchell.[1]. Mitchell later moved to Hampton, VA where he would attend Kecoughtan High School. During his senior year, Mitchell accounted for over 1400 all purpose yards granting him a scholarship to UVA-Wise.[2]

College Career[edit]

Mitchell's accounted for 1,335 total yards during his four seasons at UVA-Wise (2015-2018)[3] [4]

X-League[edit]

Because of Mitchell's American and Japanese dual citizenship status, he was elligble to play in the X-League, Japan's top American football league. He currently plays running back for the Panasonic Impulse.[5][6] [7]

2019 Season (Rookie Year)[edit]

Mitchell earned the starting running back position during the 2019 preseason with the Panasonic Impulse. He made his X-league debut in the season opener against Nojima Sagamihara Rise rushing for 127 yards on 13 carries along with 2 catches for 25 yards. On September 7, 2019, Mitchell scored his first career touchdown against the Fujitsu Frontiers. Mitchell had a season high of 204 all purpose yards against the IBM Big Blue with 86 yards rushing on 9 carries, 37 yards receiving on one catch, and 81 yards on two kick off returns. On November 30, 2019, Mitchell played a key role in Panasonic Impulse's 24–14 victory against the #2 ranked Obic Seagulls in the X-League Semi-final match. He rushed for 145 yards on 20 carries along with a pair of catches for 26 yards receiving. Mitchell accounted for 171 yards out of the 384 total yards that day.[8] The Panasonic Impulse would later lose to the three time reigning champions, Fujitsu Frontiers at the 2019 Japan X Bowl XXXIII 26–28. Mitchell rushed for 73 yards on 16 carries scoring a touchdown and had 5 catches for 48 receiving yards in the final effort.[9]
