WAN-O (Hip Hop Artiste)[edit]

William Ekroo Ansah known as Wan-O or WanO is a Ghanaian Hip-Hop rapper born on the 31st of October 1985 in Accra, Ghana to the late Mr. Daniel Kuntu Ansah of Winneba and Cynthia Agyekum of Cape-Coast. He’s best known in Ghana as the rapper who sells his CDs on the streets..[1][2].

Early Life & Education[edit]

Wan-O had his primary and Junior High School Education at Alysd Academy in Accra and then proceeded to Adisadel College (Adisco) in Cape-Coast for his Senior High School Education from 2003 to 2005. In Adisco, he took a keen interest in rap music and took part in numerous rap battles and performances[3]. After Adisco, he attended the Central University College and graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management[4]

Musical Journey[edit]

In 2007, Wan-O released his first official single “Da Future” featuring Chase who he attended both primary school and University with. The song did not get the needed airplay and after graduation from Central University College, in 2012, he went to work at the UT Bank. He left the corporate world in 2013 to pursue music on full time basis by recording and selling his songs himself on the streets. Over the past five years, WanO has sold over 10,000 copies of his CDs.[5][6][7] Wan-O's early musical influences include; Micheal Jackson,Jay-Z, Eminem, DMX, Mase, Jadakiss and The Lox.

Vodafone UNSUNG Nomination[edit]

In 2016, Wan-O was nominated by the Board of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards in the Unsung Category[8][9] together with the late Ebony Reigns[10], Feli Nuna, Nii Funny, Perez and the eventual winner; Adomaa. The Unsung category rewards talented underground artistes trying to break into the industry [11][12]

In March 2018, Wan-O released Gbelemo ft Edi Young[13][14] and in October, he released Blessings, a song and documentary that catalogues his journey in the music industry[15]
