Wasnik is a nagvanshi clan found in central india.

Origin

Wasnik claim themselves to be direct descendants of Naga king takshak. King Parikshit was cursed that his son to die by a snake bite takshak killed Parikshit , the grandson of Arjuna .King Janamejaya, son of pariksit organized a yagya in which all naga died except takshak and takshak then excepted peace thus the whole naga clan vanished except takshak and the blood line continued wasnik claim themselves to be their descandants.

Ancestry

Emperor Ajatshatru when conquered thirty-six independent republics and merged with magadha.Then he appointed wasnik to maintain peace and order in this newly captured republics and also to suppress internal revolts.

Mauryan era They served local rulers in central india during rule of mauryas.

Rajput Era Wasnik served as a zamindars during Tomar and tanwar dynasties of Gwalior and sikar

British raj

Most wasnik joined in British army few gained prominence during British raj and served as kotwals to British in central india.
