Water Burial
Water Burial (2019) is a feature length film by independent filmmaker Shantanu Sen. The film is in Monpa dialect, spoken by the Monpa tribe of Arunachal Pradesh, India. Besides making his debut as a director, Sen has also written the story and screenplay for the film. The entire film was shot in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh.
Water Burial has been produced by Faruque Iftikar and co-produced by AM Television.
Synopsis[edit]
An anthropologist sets off to find the favourite drink of his friend. The journey takes him to a remote place called Jung when he stumbled onto a dark ritual of a local tribe. Thus he takes up the mission to bring that ritual forward into the mainstream and give it the social acceptance.
Awards[edit]
Water Burial has been awarded the Best Screenplay Award at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Film Festival 2019.[1]. It has also made the official selection at the 2020 editions of both the Rajasthan International Film Festival[2] as well as the Sunshine City Film Festival in Tampa Bay, Florida[3]
