Song information[edit]

  • Every Lawrence Arms release is represented on this compilation except for their 2000 split EP with Shady View Terrace.
  • The album's liner notes include personal blurbs written by songwriters Kelly and McCaughan about the writing and/or recording of each song.[1]
  • "Turnstiles" initially appeared on 2000s Ghost Stories, but was re-recorded for the 2005 compilation Cocktails & Dreams.
  • On the vinyl release, "The Northside, the L&L, and Any Number of Crappy Apartments" was accidentally replaced with another track from A Guided Tour of Chicago, "Someday We're All Gonna Weigh 400 lbs." Fat Wreck Chords acknowledged the mistake on their website, accompanied by a statement from Kelly.[2] The digital download included with the vinyl release also included "Someday We're All Gonna Weigh 400 lbs.", while the mistake was corrected when the album was uploaded to Spotify.[3]
  • "Demons" was omitted from the physical release of Buttsweat and Tears, but was included on the digital download provided with it.[4] An alternate version appeared on the 2010 compilation Fat Music Vol. 7: Harder, Fatter + Louder![5], however, this marks the first time the original EP version appears on a physical release.
  • "Black Snow" was cut from Oh! Calcutta! because the band didn't feel like it fit in with the album's other material. It's lyrics refer to the gentrification that McCaughan had observed in his Chicago neighborhood.[6]
  • "Warped Summer Extravaganza (Turbo Excellent)" originally appeared as a bonus track on Oh! Calcutta!, albeit in a vastly different, country-based arrangement. The band prefers to play this faster version live, because they see it as a better fit for their live set.[7]
