Weldon Kirui

Weldon Kirui (born 2 December 1988) in Bomet, Kenya, is a long distance runner specializing in the marathon. He is a two-time winner of the Los Angeles Marathon (2016 and 2018.) The 2019 bronze-label IAAF athlete lives and trains in Bomet and races around the world. He won the California International Marathon in Sacramento in December 2013 and the Kass Marathon in Eldoret, Kenya in November 2012. His marathon personal best time of 2:09:06 was set at the Eindhoven Marathon in the Netherlands in October 2012.

In the half marathon distance, he won the AFC San Diego Half Marathon in California in August 2011 with a time of 1:03:18. He also won the Krems Half Marathon in Austria in September 2010 with a time of 61:10.

With his winnings from racing, Kirui has established a tea farm and a church in Bomet. He is married with two children. His wife, Caroline, is also a professional runner. He is a Skechers USA sponsored athlete and is self coached, represented by Elite Runner Management.
