Wendy K. Ulmer, is an American, award winning writer of children's literature and young adult fiction. She was born in Lebanon, Pennsylvania in 1950 and grew up in Mount Gretna. Ulmer graduated from Lebanon Valley College with a Bachelor of Arts in music and earned a Master of Education in Creative Arts in Learning from Lesley University, located in Boston.[1][2]

Ulmer was a high school music and english teacher in Maine for 22 years before she became an author.[3] Her first book A Campfire for Cowboy Billy was written in 1997 and her second book[4] A Isn't for Fox: An Isn't Alphabet won several recognition awards. Ulmers book My Twelve Maine Christmas Days (a take of the song The Twelve Days of Christmas), won the 2014 Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators Spark Award.[5]
