White History Month

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Started in 2018 by radio-show host Jesse Lee Peterson, White History Month is a response to the fact that many identifiable groups have a month dedicated to celebrating their ethnicity and culture but people are sometimes considered racist showing pride or appreciation for white or caucasian history. Much like Black History Month (February) and LGBT History Month (June), both celebrate their respective groups, White History Month is about being inspired by celebrating the success and influence of that caucasians had in history. Jesse Lee Peterson chose July because "[July] just feels white, doesn't it? You get the summer heat and the vacations as well as the 4th of July. July just feels white." [1] [2] [3]

Jesse goes further into his reasoning of why he decided to start White History Month. To show the hypocrisy and the hate that people harbour for others. One of his guests states that "If we were to go out into the streets and have posters, flags and celebrate White History Month that way, I'd like to see the reaction of others." The reason he says that is because it's well known that if people did anything like that, there would be anger towards the people celebrating, which goes to show the double standard. How people can celebrate Black History or Homosexuality but caucasians celebrating White History would be seen as evil. [4]
