Windshield protection film

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Windshield protection film is a polyurethane composite film applied to vehicle windshields to prevent stone chips, improve impact resistance from road debris and also protect against abrasion from wipers. Typically measured in mil thickness, most windshield protection films measure somewhere between 4 mil and 8 mil (0.1016mm - 0.2032mm). Windshield protection film can be categorized based on visible light transmittance , ultraviolet rejection and impact resistance.

Windshield protection films are installed by professionals similar to window tint and paint protection film. To apply, the film is cut according to the vehicle's windshield size and then a persistent combination of heat and a slip solution create an adhesive effect until the film covers the entire area of the windshield. Standard installation time is one hour and drying time can take up to one day.

Innovations in nanotechnology, such as Exoshield and Clearplex have enabled more advanced windshield protection by embedding nanomaterials that further improve impact resistance, light transmission and UV protection.
