Wrongworld

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Wrongworld is a third-person science fiction survival video game developed by British indie company Sludj Games.[1] The game was initially released in beta form through Steam Early Access on August 22, 2017, transitioning to full release on May 11, 2018, and currently supports Windows.[2]

Crash-landed on a procedurally generated 3D world, the player must explore their surroundings, find food to prevent starvation, battle the planet's native inhabitants, and attempt to rebuild their spaceship in order to return home.[3][4]

Gameplay[edit]

Wrongworld is an action-adventure game with survival elements set on a randomly generated open world.[3][4][5]

The game includes a day/night cycle which affects gameplay in several ways. The passage of time steadily reduces the player's Hunger statistic, forcing the player to forage, cultivate or hunt for food in order to prevent starvation. Random events or obstacles for the player to overcome can trigger at any time, and additional dangerous creatures may appear at random throughout the night. As the in-game day count progresses, both the likelihood and difficulty of the random events and the number of creatures that can potentially appear at night increases.[6]

Resources such as wood and stone must be gathered from the environment in order to craft various tools, weapons, potions, gadgets and structures, which in turn lead to the discovery of additional, more advanced crafting recipes, ultimately progressing towards the goal of rebuilding the player's spaceship and returning home.[1][5]

The player's overall condition is represented by a Health statistic which can be reduced by starvation, enemy attacks, poisonous foods, and various obstacles scattered around the environment. Fully depleting the Health statistic causes the player's death, with the current game mode or difficulty dictating the result: Easy Mode allows the player to continue the game with only minor penalties incurred; Normal and Hard Modes feature permanent death, causing the game to end and the player's save game to be deleted.[6]

The game includes an experience point system, potentially rewarding players of Normal or Hard Mode after their death based on their overall performance. Once enough experience points have been earned, additional crafting recipes and game features unlock and may be accessed during subsequent attempts.[6]

Development and release[edit]

Wrongworld is developed by British-based indie company Sludj Games, and was accepted as part of Steam Greenlight in December 2016.[1] An in-development version of the game was released for Windows via early access on August 22, 2017, and transitioned to full release status on May 11, 2018.[2] Sludj Games announced that Wrongworld would be coming to OS X and Linux.[7] Post-launch, the game has been updated on multiple occasions and remains in active development.[8][9]

The game was developed using Unreal Engine 4.[5]
