Young Bhartiya

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Introduction[edit]

Young Bhartiya is a Mumbai based think tank established for the purpose of providing the Indian youth with the opportunity to conduct research and write articles. A completely youth centric think tank, we plan on enhancing student lives in the best way we can. By providing a platform for writings to get published, internships, employment opportunities and other initiatives, we plan on creating a holistic hub for the young.

Objective

The aim of the organisation is to provide the Indian youth with the weapon to conduct research and make them well rounded individuals who can view an issue through multiple perspectives. The opportunity to conduct research so far seldom finds a place in our education curriculum. Also, in an age where there is an information overload, the possibility of straying away from the issue at hand and not able to arrive at a holistic understanding is common. Young Bhartiya aims to make this process simpler by streamlining research methodologies and aiding our writers to arrive at a logical conclusion.

History[edit]

The organisation officially launched on the 18th of June 2016. The launch event was conducted on the same day. Having received most of their education from K.C. College, the members of Young Bhartiya organised their event in the Rama Watumall Auditorium in the college campus. For the event, as a recreational activity the organisation invited the members of a band, in which majority of the band members were visually impaired.

The band event was followed with a talk by the Founder and Trustee of Young Bhartiya Foundation, Mr. Ameya Pratap Singh and Core Team member Mr. Abhijeet Deshmukh. The talk entailed a detailed elucidation of the organisation’s aims and how the organisation is going to go about its decided objectives.

After the talk, the organisation held a panel discussion which was attended by members from diverse fields. The panel consisted of Rajeev Khandelwal, Neha Sharma from the Bollywood industry, Avani Modi from the modelling industry, IPS officer Kaiser Khalid, Prominent lawyer Srinivas Bobde, Zee News Senior Editor Sanjay Singh. The panel discussion involved an insightful discussion on the panelists respective career paths, and the journey that they undertook to get to where they are now. It provided lessons to the young audience in the auditorium, who want to undertake similar career paths.

With a power packed auditorium and a fine blend of recreational and educational experience, the launch event proved to be an all round success.

Research areas[edit]

Young Bhartiya conducts research and writes articles on a wide array of topics ranging from Gender, Economics, Law, Culture, Politics, Society, Environment. By creating a strong base to conduct research, Young Bhartiya aims to initiate a wider culture of discourse and debate, something which can enhance the understanding of the youth demographic of India, which is expanding at an ever-frantic pace.

The organisation publishes articles on its official website. The articles range from contemporary issues to topics that rarely find a place in mainstream media. The articles involve backing of theoretical studies and carry a good backbone of research.

Activities[edit]

Apart from writing articles, the organisation also conducts events and social initiatives. Given below is a chronological list of events and initiatives that the organisation has undertaken:

Public Lecture[edit]

Young Bhartiya Foundation in association with the Political Association of St Xavier’s College, Mumbai held an interactive session with Mr Abhinav Chandrachud, a prominent lawyer currently practicing in Bombay High Court. The speech given by him aptly elucidated the most cardinal element of a healthy democracy, ‘free speech’. After having witnessed free speech in India being threatened by various divisive forces, the organization felt it was appropriate to have a healthy discourse over the subject. The interactive session offered a chance for the students to ask counter questions and get a good insight on the subject.

Social Challenger[edit]

Young Bhartiya Foundation organised a Social Challenger in partnership with Gopi Birla School, Walkeshwar. The idea of Social Challenger was to challenge the students of the school to devise innovative solutions for the problem of ‘Sanitation in Mumbai slums’. The students of classes 9th and 11th grade were divided into teams and were asked to participate in the competition. The winners of the competition were awarded with a unique opportunity. The organisation would be implementing the solutions of the winning team in real time in consultation with the slum authorities. It was designed in a way to bridge the gap between different classes of the society and let the students have a hands on experience in policy making in the country. This acted as the pilot project, for which implementation of the solution is still in the consultation stage. The organisation plans to expand this project to more schools and colleges to have a wider impact.
