Travis Washington (born August 5, 1991), better known by his stage name Young Trap, is an American rapper, independent songwriter and C.E.O. of Debonaire Music Group. He is best known for his single "My Ex" featuring Boneyafterparty and as a former member of the Memphis rap group, Da Ridaz.

Early Life[edit]

Travis Washington was born on August 5, 1991[1] in Memphis, TN to African-American parents. Young Trap has stated his early influences include 8Ball and MJG, Playa Fly and Three 6 Mafia.[2]

Young Trap grew up freestyling to the instrumentals of Memphis rapper Playa Fly. As word spread of his abilities, he was invited to join Memphis rap group Da Ridaz in the studio for two albums produced by Drumma Boy. Having developed a mindset of entrepreneurship, Young Trap decided to expand outside of the streets of Memphis.

Career[edit]

The CEO of Debonaire Music Group, Young Trap is also an MC, who started in his teens with the Memphis crew Da Ridahz. The group released two albums, both of which were produced by Drumma Boy. After a move to Atlanta, Trap began his solo career in 2010 with the album Money Talk, released on his Debonaire Music label. In 2011, Trap reunited with Drumma Boy for the single "I'm Young Trap." In 2012, he released "Yea" with production from Marc Johnson, and launched his Debonaire Music series of mixtapes. Debonair Music Vol. 3 was released in 2015, then his The Cover Up mixtape dropped in 2016 with DJ Infamous as host.[3]

Young Trap’s album, Hustle & Glow (2019)[4], was recorded in Los Angeles by Tommy Daugherty (Death Row, Tupac Makaveli Album[5]) and is the fifth release from his founding label, Debonaire Music Group. The 11-track album includes production from Drumma Boy (Young Jeezy, Gucci Mane, Future,[6]) DMac Too Bangin (Lil Baby, Money Bagg Yo, Gunna,) Ayoo Meco (Snoop Dogg, The Game, Kid Ink, Mozzy) and features from artists such as Too $hort and Boosie Badazz.
