2025.mov is a 2026 French indie documentary film shot, edited and directed by Sascha Dagneaud. The film follows the director and his friends over a year. It captures typical teenage life with no scripted with one single handled camera.
Synopsis
2025.mov runs for 132 minutes and is structured into multiple sequences edited with raw-style and quick cuts. It is scored to a various selection of songs, going to classic hip-hop tracks to salsa.
It opens with a music montage of short clips from the film, while the its title card appears slowly. Then the film cuts to a group of friends on their way to a small party, then actually partying, talking, being together. Then, it cuts to another friendgroup doing a surprise birthday party to a person. Then, it is followed by the previous friendgroup hanging out. They encounter the same artist that appeared in the first film, 2024.mov. He then proceeds to freestyle poetry slam in front of the camera. It is then followed by another party, people biking around the city, a political demonstration, an improvised barbecue, friends going out at night. Then the film enters its last act, depicting music day. People running around, drinking, dancing. The sequences ends on a close-up of the friendgroup's smiling faces, followed by one shot of one member of the friend group simply walking. The film then cuts to one of its last sequences, depicting last day of school and prom night. Colorful lights flashing everywhere. The film cuts to the final sequence, a friendgroup celebrating another friend's birthday as she blows out her candles. It then cuts another music montage, doing a recap of everything the movie depicted. It then cuts to black and goes to the final credits.

Background
2025.mov is the official sequel to 2024.mov, another documentary directed by Sascha Dagneaud. It served as a retrospective of the year 2024.
Filming
The film was shot from early January, to late summer. It was shot on VHS-C using the Sony NV-VZ1 camcorder.
Editing
Since the movie was shot on VHS-C tape, the footage had to be transferred to a video format to be edited.
The film was edited entirely on the video editing software VEGAS Pro.
Music
The film is scored to pre-existing songs from Supertramp, MF Doom, Herbie Hancock, and others.
It also features music from Stiggy James second album Doors Closed and Rimera's third album BUSHWA.
Promotion & Release
The was first teased and announced with the release of the official poster of the movie on Instagram in October. One month, in November, the first teaser was released on Instagram, TikTok and Youtube. One month later, in December, the official trailer was published. The final trailer was published mid-December. 2025.mov was finally released on YouTube on January 01, 2026.
