Abelleira (Muros)
Abelleira[1] (official name Santo Estevo de Abelleira) is a Galician parish and lugar located in the municipality of Muros, in the province of A Coruña.
Location[edit]
It is 6 kilometers away from the main town of Muros, following the road C-550 heading to Santiago de Compostela.
Geography[edit]
The parish follows the shoreline and thus the main road that connects Compostela and Muros and has a population of approximately 300 inhabitants. Being rural based, it has some basic amenities and services such as a small groceries store and some bakeries, but it is in the town of Muros where citizens from Abelleira have access to most of the public services.
Beaches[edit]
The beaches located in Abelleira are well regarded to obtain quality shellfish. They are also praised by the tourists that decide to enjoy their vacation in the parish. The seawater is clear and because of the location of Abelleira, the sea is calm and the beaches are not steep. Abelleira is located on the shoreline of a bay, in which an estuary is created at the mouth of the Rateira river. [2]
