Alexander Osborne, (July 4, 1709 - July 11, 1776), was born in Elizabethtown, NJ, but spent the beginning of his life in Pennsylvania. In 1749, he moved to North Carolina with his family where they settled in what is now Iredell County. Here, his estate began with a log house and a one-thousand acre grant in what became Belmont.[1]
