ANote Music is a European-based music investment platform that allows music fans and investors to invest in the royalty interests of songs, albums and music catalogs of established and upcoming artists. The company created the first European marketplace for investing and trading fractionalised ownership in musical assets.[1][2][3]
Investors can acquire shares in the available music catalog on the platform through auctions in the primary market or by trading shares with other investors on the secondary market. When they do this, investors then earn a share of royalties generated by the music as a form of passive income. The platform aims to provide a new way for artists to finance their projects and for music fans to get involved in the music industry. This is done by using blockchain technology to provide transparency and security to its users while allowing investors to track and manage their investments.[4]
History
ANote Music was founded in 2018 by Marzio Schena, Matteo Cernuschi and Grégoire Mathnet and is headquartered in Luxembourg.
In January 2020, the company raised €505.000,- in a first investment round which was led by a consortium of music industry experts.[5] Later that year, in March, the company announced that it had been selected by the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg's Ministry of the Economy to receive national funding in order to support research, development and innovation for the company.
On July 28, 2020, the company officially launched its in-house developed marketplace and started welcoming investors.
In May 2021, ANote Music announced a partnership with Algorand to further leverage their blockchain technology to expand the platform's abilities and move closer to the Web3 space.[6]
In October 2021, ANote Music welcomed two new members to its advisory board with Mathew Knowles and Carlo Antonelli. The appointments coincided with the closure of a bridge funding round, bringing the total raised amount to €1.5M. At the same time, the company completed a research, development and innovation program from the Ministry of the Economy of Luxembourg, giving it access to government grants.[7][8][9]
June 2022, ANote Music won the regional qualifier of the Startup World Cup in Luxembourg.[10] Later that year, they advanced to the final round in Silicon Valley, where the company made it into the top 10 best startups of the world, and this as the only European company.[11][12]
In November 2022, Relevator announced that ANote Music became their preferred partner for Revelator's clients to list music catalogs directly on the music royalties marketplace and to facilitate more trading in music IP rights.[13][14]
In January 2023, ANote became an associate member of MuSee+ of Midem, Europe's leading international business event for the music ecosystem.[15]
