Choi Yeon-jun (Korean: 최연준; born September 13, 1999),[1] better known mononymously as Yeonjun, is a South Korean singer, dancer, rapper, songwriter, actor, model, presenter. He is the eldest member of the South Korean boy group, Tomorrow x Together.
Early life and education[edit]
Yeonjun was born on September 13, 1999[1] in Bundang-gu, Seongnam City, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. His family consists of his mom and dad. He moved to San Jose, California, U.S when he was 9 years old and lived there for two years .[2]
He attended Gumi Middle School and Bulgok High School in Seongnam, South Korea. After becoming a trainee under Big Hit, he enrolled in Korean Arts High School and graduated from there in 2018.
Career[edit]
Pre debut (before 2019)[edit]
Before joining Big Hit, Yeonjun was a trainee under Cube Entertainment.[3] He joined Big Hit in 2014 and was a trainee for almost five years.
While he was a trainee in Big Hit, he was given the nickname of BigHit's Legendary Trainee because he always ranked first in the monthly evaluations for singing, dancing and rapping throughout his trainee years.[4]
He was featured in a ramen commercial pre-debut.[5]
2019–present: Tomorrow x Together[edit]
Yeonjun was the first member to be revealed on January 11, 2019 on BigHit's Official Youtube channel, Twitter account and Instagram account.
On March 4, 2019, he made his debut as a member of TXT with the release of 'The Dream Chapter: Star'. He was credited for lyrics for the song 'Maze in the Mirror'[6] and 'Fairy of Shampoo', which are from TXT's 'The Dream Chapter: Eternity.' He is also credited in the lyrics for 'Wishlist'[7], a track from TXT's album 'Minisode1: Blue Hour' and the secret track[8] on Weverse.
2019–present: Solo activities[edit]
On April 17, 2020, Yeonjun uploaded his first solo song cover of the August Alsina’s 'Song Cry,' which he titled 'Yeonjun’s Song Cry' to SoundCloud.[9] '
On December 29th, 2020, Yeonjun was announced to have a cameo on the finale episode of JTBC drama 'Live On'.[10] This was his debut in acting.
On February 17, 2021, Yeonjun walked the runway for 2021 F/W New York Fashion Week and represented the brand UL:KIN.[11] He also released a fashion line in collaboration with the same brand in March 2021.
