Development Services, Inc.
Development Services, Inc. (DSI) was a real estate development company based in Illinois that specialized in the construction of communities built around man-made lakes. Those developments included
- Lake Viking outside of Gallatin, Missouri in 1967,
- Roaming Rock Shores outside of Cleveland, Ohio,
- Holliday Shores outside of St. Louis, Missouri,
- Beaver Lake outside of Omaha, Nebraska,
- Lake Iraqois outside of Champagne-Urbana, Illinois,
- Spanish Cove outside of Lillian, Alabama, and
- Enchanted Lake outside of Buffalo, New York.
The company was headed by Kenneth F. Gorman, and most of the developments were completed between 1950 and 1970. Prior to heading DSI, Gorman was the head of American Realty Corporation, which was also a developer of lake communities. DSI itself was sold in 1970 to A. J. Industries, a Los Angeles, California-based corporation[1], for stock, operated as a subsidiary and eventually ceased to exist.
