Digital Devil Story (デジタル・デビル・ストーリー Dejitaru Debiru Sutōrī) is a Japanese science fantasy novel series written by Aya Nishitani and Illustrated by Hiroyuki Kitazume.
The first novel in the series, "Megami Tensei" was adapted into a 45-minute Original video animation (OVA) by Animate Film in March 1987, as well as two distinct role-playing video games that were released the same year. A top-down Action role-playing game co-developed by Atlus and Telenet Japan for Japanese personal computers and a first-person dungeon crawler role-playing game developed by Atlus in-house and published by Namco for the Famicom. The latter version would become successful and would later serve as the basis for Atlus' popular Megami Tensei media franchise.
