Dr. P. V. Satyanarayana is a former Professor of Cardio Thoracic surgery at Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences(NIMS), Hyderabad, a premiere medical college in Andhra Pradesh. For the last 40 years, he performed 20,000 procedures which include intercostals tubes to heart transplant surgeries and is the first doctor to do warm heart surgery in India. He improved various techniques of cardiac surgical procedures including LIMA to LAD anastomosis in coronary by pass surgeries. He designed most economical, syringe pump delivery technique for cardioplegia delivery for warm heart surgery. For the first time in India, he designed computer based cardiac surgical database, which is in use for the last 20 years. He published 30 scientific publications in various national and international scientific peer reviewed journals. He conducted cardiac rehabilitation programme for post-heart surgical patients for the last 20 years. He developed keen interest in preventive cardiac sciences and started Lifestyle modification clinics in Visakhapatnam and in Hyderabad. He published two books, on guidelines for heart surgery patients for healthy recovery. Regarding Low Carbohydrate High Fat (LCHF) diet, he himself suffered with diabetes, hypertension, arthritis and other metabolic conditions before starting LCHF diet. Once he started LCHF, in 2015, he didn’t look back and has been leading a medication- free lifestyle since the last 8 years. He has taken up full-time LCHF based consultation practice and gave passionate service to almost 2000 patients during the last 3-4 years. He is a pioneer and the first doctor to completely endorse LCHF diet in the two telugu speaking states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. He has published a book, " What should we eat?" along with his wife, Dr. P. Kamala Devi, describing the evidence-based science behing LCHF diet and how it helps in controlling lifestyle diseases that are particularly related to insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome. The highlights of the book are the colourful,attractive images of various food items, with star rating based on their carbohydrate composition, and the matter being presented in three languages i.e., Telugu, Hindi and English. He is instrumental in conducting successfully two workshops for other doctors in the state and sensitising them about LCHF. He is running a youtube channel, named " Dr. PV Satyanarayana", with 15,300 subscribes and total viewership of 11 lakh views for 48 videos. He gave an interview to TV 9, the most popular Telugu newschannel regarding the dietary habits to be followed by people as a part of their lifestyle change, which garnered a record-breaking 10 lakh views. He also completed MBA from Andhra University in 2016. He delivered nearly 500 lectures at various seminars, workshops and public meetings regarding healthy lifestyle, health science, Low carbohydrate High Fat diet and related topics.
