Club History
Caerphilly Athletic Football Club was founded in 2008 by a group of friends and Welsh football fans. The Club started out in the Caerphilly & District League and quickly rose through the divisions, and in 2015, Caerphilly Athletic won promotion to the South Wales Alliance League. The Club enjoyed a good degree of success in the following years, reaching the final of the South Wales Alliance Cup in 2016, losing to AFC Penrhiwceiber. In 2019, they won the South Wales Alliance League Cup, and in 2023 secured promotion to the South Wales Alliance League - Premier Division.

2021 / 2022 Season
Highadmit Projects South Wales Alliance Football League - Division 1
Caerphilly Athletic finished 10th (of 15 teams) in Division 1 of the South Wales Alliance Football League, finishing the season with a total of 29 points.[1]
2022 / 2023 Season
Highadmit Projects South Wales Alliance Football League - Division 1
Caerphilly Athletic secured promotion to the Premier Division of the Ardal South West Alliance League having earned the Division 1 title by beating Aberdare Town on Friday 12th May;[2] however, this still was not enough for them to be declared Division 1 Champions.
On Wednesday 17th May, Caerphilly Athletic hosted Vale United FC, with the away team needing a win to secure promotion themselves. Caerphilly Athletic finished their season with a 3 - 1 win, ending Vale United FC's chances of promotion and giving Treherbert BGC the runners up place.[3][4] Caerphilly Athletic finished their season with a total of 69 points, following a 10-game unbeaten run - a run which extended back to 4th March where they narrowly lost away to Vale United FC who scored a 91st minute winner. Caerphilly Athletic were awarded with the League Trophy on Wednesday 17th May following their fixture vs Vale United FC
2023 / 2024 Season
The Men's First Team are currently managed by Ian Butterworth and Jordan Burnell, with the Reserve Team (The Dragons) being managed by Ross Powell and James Joyce.

The newly promoted Caerphilly Athletic started their campaign away to FC Cwmaman on Saturday 12th August, losing 4 - 2.[5] Caerphilly Athletic's goals from Joseph Morelli and Nick Hill.

JD Welsh Cup
Caerphilly Athletic were drawn against Clwb Cymric in the 1st Qualifying Round of the JD Welsh Cup, with the fixture being played at the Centre of Sporting Excellence in Ystrad Mynach on Saturday 29th July. Caerphilly Athletic beat Clwb Cymric 3 - 1,[6] seeing them progress into the 2nd Qualifying Round with the draw being held on Friday 4th August[7] and was live-streamed on RedWall+,[8] Caerphilly Athletic were drawn against AFC Machen in the 2nd Qualifying Round of the JD Welsh Cup[9][10] with the fixture to be played on Saturday 19th September. This fixture was played at the Centre of Sporting Excellence in Ystrad Mynach, with Caerphilly Athletic securing a 3 - 0 win over their local rivals.[11] Goals were scored by Christopher Crane, Alex Edwards and Sam Watkins.[12] Having progressed through the qualifying rounds, Caerphilly Athletic will be drawn in Round 1 of the JD Welsh Cup, with the draw taking place on Monday 21st August, and fixtures intending to be played on Saturday 16th September.
Community Engagement
November 2022 saw the launch of the 'Balls 4 All' project, an initiative funded by a Comic Relief Community Fund grant award. The project was aimed to provide footballs to young people in the community, offering an exclusive ‘swap-shop’, where children can bring any ball, of any shape and condition, swapping it for a brand-new football. The aim of the project was to encourage participation in physical activity and to assist with social inclusion. 'Balls 4 All' was also covered by Eat Sleep Media as part of the FAW's 'Gŵyl Cymru Festival' - a 10-day creative event, bringing communities together as the nation supports the Cymru men's team during their FIFA World Cup 2022. The balls that had been swapped were later donated to a local dog's home for their enjoyment.
In December 2022, Caerphilly Athletic launched their latest community project, 'The Clothes Bank'[13] working with local public house, The Station Inn, to set-up a clothes bank. Individuals were able to donate clothes which would then be provided to those who are struggling, an important and thoughtful initiative during the cost-of-living crisis which significantly impacted the local community.
As a collective, Caerphilly Athletic donated £180 worth of brand new school uniform and shoes to the Caerphilly Uniform Exchange in August 2023, helping to support families and children prior to the 2023 / 2024 academic year.
