Summary
DescriptionHowdy Doody new face.JPG
Photo of Howdy Doody as the puppet examines himself after "plastic surgery" to change his appearance. This was the debut of the redesigned puppet. When the creator of the original puppet stormed out of NBC with it about 4 hours before the live show was to air, NBC quickly created a publicity campaign to explain the puppet's absence from the children's show; that Howdy Doody decided to improve his looks with plastic surgery. This gave the designer of the new puppet time for her work; the puppet was not voiced by the creator of the original puppet, so the character's voice would remain as it had been. This is the puppet most people think is the original Howdy Doody.
