English: In the summer of 2021, the Marmara Sea in Turkey went through a devastating environmental crisis due to sea mucilage. Choking off the entire sea, native fish populations dropped drastically. This photo was taken off the coast of the Avsa Island in Turkey, showcasing the spiderweb of algae that killed off most of the marine ecosystem and a lonely fish. |
