| Description |
English: Stiller-Smith 90° X4 floating cantilever crank engine, second experimental engine, side view minus rod guides. Wobble and overshoot exaggerated for effect. Rod deflection rendered with sine functions as first approximation. The pistons operate together as a double-slider mechanism and their linear motions are converted to rotary motion by a MultiFAZE eccentric gear train (Pat. No. DE 3232974, 1982). With this gear train, a crank is not required for power transmission, but it would prevent wobble in the trammel gear. |
